Liverpool and the Europa League
By Anthony Carter
Despite their woeful early Premier League form this season, and despite their early exits from both the FA Cup and the Champions League, Liverpool seem to have taken their task in the Europa League extremely seriously and this evening they dispatched probably the competitions most in-form team (until this evening, that is) with ease. The 4-1 score line at Anfield was enough to give the Reds a 5-3 aggregate score and a date with star striker Fernando Torres' old team Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the competition. Liverpool fans can finally get excited about the prospect of winning a trophy after a far from satisfactory season. |
