Ski Goggles- Choosing the Right Pair Part 2
As most ski goggles are generally designed to be worn in varying weather conditions, most of them incorporate a wide range of anti-fogging and venting features. Fog free lenses are possible by purchasing goggles which have a double lens and a venting system. The vents in these goggles provide air circulation within the confines of the goggles which reduce the fogging substantially as well as the added advantage of keeping your eyes cool and refreshed. Almost all goggles have lenses that have been chemically treated which makes them water resistant. This in turn helps to reduce fogging. Ski goggle lenses usually come in a variety of colours, each having their own particular benefits in certain light conditions. Bronze lenses tend to offer the best protection against UV rays and they can be used in a range of different conditions, from clear and sunny through to cloudy and overcast. Bronze chrome lenses offer the best protection in bright, sunny conditions but are not suited for lower light conditions including skiing at night or in blizzards. Conversely, clear lenses admit the most light through so are ideal for all the low light conditions that were mentioned above. If clear lenses are not your cup of tea though, you could also try clear chrome orange, clear chrome blue or yellow lenses. These lenses offer the same advantages that clear lenses offer while at the same time letting in a bit less light with a tint. |
